Kuehl, Gertrude

Gertrude J. Kuehl, 88, formerly of Cedarburg and Harbor Club, Port Washington died Thursday, July 20, 2006 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington.

She was April 16, 1918 in Cedarburg, Wisconsin to Michael and Hannah Gunther Winter.  Raised in Cedarburg she graduated from Cedarburg High School.  She met Melvin Kuehl of Cedarburg and married him September 13, 1942 at Advent Lutheran Church in Cedarburg.  She was a homemaker and a Lab Technician for Fromm Labs for many years with other employment throughout the years.  Melvin preceded her in death September 3, 2003.  After her husbands death she moved to Harbor Club and most recently to Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  Gert was a voracious reader and loved going to the library.  She also enjoyed bowling, gardening and playing cards.

She is survived by her son Joe (Carol) Kuehl of Port Washington and three grandsons Mike Kuehl and Dan Kuehl both of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin and Tim Kuehl of Port Washington.  Further survived by sister Anne Winter of Cedarburg, other relatives and friends.  Preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, Margaret Frederiksen and Ruth Vogtsberger and a brother, Paul Winter.

Family will receive family and friends 4:30 – 6:30 PM Monday, July 24 at the funeral home.  Interment Union Cemetery, Port Washington.  Memorials to Cedarburg Public Library  or the Alzheimer’s Association appreciated.
