GerlVickieVictoria C. Gerl, “Vickie”, formerly of West Grand Avenue and North Montgomery Street in Port Washington passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington where she had resided for the past seven years.

She was born in Saukville, WI on May 18, 1914, daughter of Jacob and Emelia Bathke Mueller, growing up on the family farm.  As a young women, she helped with the farm labors and worked at the former VandeBoom’s Tavern in Saukville.  On June 28, 1941, Vickie she married Joseph Gerl of Kellnersville, WI in Saukville.  Joe preceded her in death on January 26, 1984.  For many years she lived with her sister Olive.  The two were a pair.

She was active with the Women of the Moose Lodge 1301 in Saukville where the whole family was quite active.  She enjoyed playing cards and other activities through the Port Washington Senior Center.  Vickie is also a 70-plus year member of the Catholic Orders of Foresters St. Henrietta Court 789.

She is the last of eleven children in her family.  She is survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Vickie is preceded by her husband Joe, sisters Minnie, Adela, Viola and Olive and her brothers John, Lawrence, Philip, William, Arnold and Jacob.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6PM Friday, January 25,2013 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.  The Reverend Patrick Wendt will be the celebrant.  Interment will take place at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Port Washington.  Visitation will from 4-6PM Friday AT CHURCH with a 4PM Rosary.  Memorials to the Women of the Moose Lodge 1301, 193 Green Bay Ave., Saukville, WI 53080 or St. Peters Parish appreciated.
