Janice J. Gengler, 78, died Tuesday, January 22, 2008 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.

She was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Charles and Luella Wurl Zajichek on November 26, 1929.  After attending Custer High School she  worked as a telephone operator for the telephone company.  She married Joseph Gengler of Mequon, Wisconsin on May 22, 1954 in Port Washington.  Together they lived in Mequon as she raised the family.  After her daughters were grown she returned to workforce in the accounting department of the Woolworth company.   After retiring she moved to Ocala, Florida with her husband and stayed there for many years.  She returned to the Ozaukee County area to be near her daughters.  Her husband preceded her in death April 10, 1994.

Janice was an avid reader and good cook.  She will be remembered most for her baking skills.  Hunting down new recipes, her wonderful Christmas cookies and delictable desserts.

She is survived by her daughters Barbara Karrels of West Bend, Wisconsin and Lori Gengler of East Troy, Wisconsin.  Further survived by 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, sister Arlene Janacek, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband and a brother, Charles Zajichek.

The family has held private services.
