Flierl, Isabelle

Isabelle M. Flierl, 94, formerl y of Antoine Drive and the Harbor Club, Port Washington died Wednesday morning January 3, 2007 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington.

She was born May 12, 1912 in Port Washington to John P. and Susan Riesterer Mueller.  Isabelle was in the first graduating class of St. Mary’s Commercial High School in 1928.  After graduation  she worked at the Port Washington Herald newspaper for many years.  On October 10, 1936 she married Theodore A. Flierl of Port Washington in Port Washington.  She often assisted her husband who ran  Ted’s Service Station on South Spring Street (currently the Hair Mechanic).  He preceded her in death April 1, 1986.

Isabelle was a member and past president of the Good Samaritan Guild, St. Alphonsus Hospital Auxiliary, Daughers of Isabella and St. Peter’s Catholic Church.  She was proud of her Luxembourg heritage and was also a member of the Luxembourg Society of Wisconsin.  She liked to read and recite poetry and often wrote limericks and short poems.  She also enjoyed socializing with her bridge clubs.

When reminiscing she would include stories of playing the organ at masses when she was a student at St. Mary’s.  Isabelle enjoyed sharing her piano renditions of the “oldies” at family gatherings, Heritage Nursing Home, Harbor Village, Harbor Club and other events.  In April of 1991 she was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the American Nursing Home Association and Heritage Nursing Home for bringing music to the residents.

She is survived by her sons Theodore J. (Mary) Flierl, WIlliam A. (Ann) Flierl and John S. (Pat) Flierl all of Port Washington.  Further survived by  grandchildren Claire (Mark Panarusky) Flierl, Erika Flierl, Karl (Kimberly) Flierl, Kurt (Kristin) Flierl, Katy (Greg) Borowski and Tom (Jennifer) Flierl; step grandchildren Tammy (Jasson) Lukasavge and Travis (Susan) Tovar; 7great grandchildren, 5 step great granchildren, other relatives and friends.  Preceded  by two brothers Joseph and Alphonse.

Rev. Patrick Wendt will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial  11 am Saturday, January 6, 2007 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.  Interment parish cemetery.  Visitation after 10:30 am Saturday AT CHURCH.
