Larry Harold Burck, Ph.D., passed away on Sunday, March 29th, 2015. He was 69 years old. Dr. Burck was born and raised in Detroit and Algonac, Michigan, and was a longtime resident of Grafton. He received his B.S. in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University, M.S. in engineering mechanics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and his Ph.D. in materials science and engineering from Northwestern University. He began his career as a research engineer at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft. He was a tenured professor at UWM for almost 10 years before becoming a partner at Weiss and Burck, Ltd. in Milwaukee. For the past 15 years, he was the principal engineer and owner of Burck Engineering in Port Washington.

Dr. Larry Burck was a loving husband of 47 years to his wife, Claudia, a devoted father to his children Kristen Byers (Chris), David (Anna), and Michael, and an adoring Granddad to Joni (Burck) and Eleanor, Lillian, and Henry (Byers). He is also survived by his mother, Phyllis, brothers, Dennis, Thomas, and Michael, and sister, Nancy Carter. He is predeceased by his brother Douglas and father Harold. A private memorial service is planned. Donations in memorial to the American Cancer Society are appreciated by the family.
