Braby, Joan

BrabyJoanEJoan E. Braby, 73, of W Monroe Street in Port Washington died Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg, Wisconsin.

She was born November 7, 1935 in Port Washington to Harry and Hilda Lorge Bichler.  After graduating from Port Washington High School she worked at the former Port Washington Savings and Loan for a time.  She also competed in the Miss Port Washington Beauty Pageant and was the runner up.  She married Ward Braby of Port Washington on May 4, 1957 at St. Mary’s Church in Port Washington.

Joan was a great cook and made wedding cakes for many years.  She also enjoyed gardening, tending to her vegetable and flower beds.  She was a collector and had many ornaments and Hummel Figurines.  Christmas was her favorite holiday and she cherished the time spent with family and friends.  She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  Joan will be remembered for her outgoing personality, always sharing a nice smile and great laugh.

She is survived by her husband Ward, children Jean (Mark) Jacoby of Hartford, Wisconsin, Joanne (David) Dahm of Random Lake, Wisconsin and  William (special friend Jen and her daughter Kirsten) Braby of Port Washington, Wisconsin.  Further survived by eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, sister Mary Ann Peterson of West Bend, other relatives and many friends.  Preceded in death by her son James “Jim” Braby and sisters Helen Pujanauski and Rita Ryer.

The Rev. Tom Lijewski will celebrate Mass of Christian Burial 6:30 pm Thursday, July 16, 2009 at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church, 1800 N Wisconsin Street, Port Washington.  Interment St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Visitation 4 – 6:30 pm Thursday AT CHURCH.  Memorials appreciated.
