Gerald E. Turenne, 79, of Highway KW, Town of Port Washington, formerly of West
Chestnut Street, Port Washington died Friday, July 2, 2010 at Columbia St.
Mary�s Hospital-Ozaukee Campus, Mequon, WI.
He was born on October 21, 1930 in Thorp, Wisconsin. He was the son of Mary and
George Oberle Turenne, Sr. As a young boy he moved to the Port Washington
area. He graduated from Port Washington High School. After high school he
entered the US Army, attained the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police during
the Korean Conflict.
On January 15, 1955 he married Ida J. Hansen of the Town of Port Washington at
St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Port Washington. For over 40 years they raised
their family on West Chestnut Street, more recently moving to Highway KW in the
Town of Port Washington. For over 27 years, Jerry was employed at the
Wisconsin Electric Power Plant in Port Washington as an Operating Engineer. He
retired in 1988. He was a member of the International Association of Operating
Engineers, Local 317 for many years.
He is survived by his wife Ida, his children Peggy (rod) Reblin of Port
Washington, Gail (Mark) Oppermann of Campbellsport, Pam (Dennis) Schommer of
Port Washington, Linda (Fred) Witte, Sr., of Waubeka, Gerald (Kay) Turenne of
Saukville and John (Cassandra) Turenne of Port Washington; nine grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren, his sister-in-law Marie (Carl) Dana of Port
Washington, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded
in death by his infant daughter Wendy, brother George Turenne, his half-sister
Evelyn Miller, sister-in-laws Catherine Hansen and Elrita Mielke and
brother-in-law Frank, Leo and Lester Hansen.
A memorial funeral service will be held at 6PM Friday,
July 9, 2010 at the Poole Funeral Home, 203 N. Wisconsin St., Port
Washington. The Reverend James Ernster will officiate. Family will receive
friends from 4-6PM Friday at the funeral home.
