Schmitz, Angela C.

Angela C. Schmitz, 90, of County B, Holy Cross, Town of Belgium died peacefully with her loving family around her on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at her home.

She was born August 1, 1921 in the Town of Belgium to Otto and Margaret Jacoby Krier.  Oldest of nine, Angela lived in the area all of her life and attended school locally.  In her youth, she had worked for Krier Preserving in Belgium.   On May 29, 1943 she married Arthur D. Schmitz of Dacada at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Dacada.  They operated their family farm in Holy Cross and raised their family.  He preceded her in death on February 2, 2001.

Her family and her faith were very important to her.  She was active in the Holy Cross Parish and their Christian Women.  Angela was instrumental in the establishment of the Holy Cross 4-H Club.  She enjoyed sewing and quilting, gardening, crossword puzzles and reading.

She is survived by her seven children June (Harold) Geiser of Cecil, Eugene “Skeeter” (Irene) Schmitz of Oostburg, Margaret “Margie” (William “Bill”) Rinehart of Glendale, Phil (Diane) Schmitz of Holy Cross, Elizabeth “Betsy” (Duane) Buchholz of Sussex, Noreen “Reenie” (Jerome “Jerry”) Kultgen of Fredonia and Jayne (Dan) Emerson of West Allis; 15 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, seven sisters Lucille (the late Leo) Gasper of Cedar Grove, Eileen (Lester) Gasper of Cedar Grove, Adeline (the late Harvey) Schmitz of Port Washington, Dorothy (the late Joe) Ardisana of Cedar Grove, Elaine (the late Dennis) Nulph of Port Washington, Audrey (the late Earl) Mueller of Random Lake and Sylvia (Dick) Ansay of West Palm Beach, FL; her brother Donald (Alice) Krier of Oostburg, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  She is preceded in death by her husband Art and grandsons Brett Kultgen, Clayton Buchholz and Michael Rinehart.

Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Holy Rosary Parish-Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 County Hwy B, Holy Cross, Town of Belgium.  Reverend James Ernster will be the celebrant.  Visitation will be from 10 am-Noon Saturday AT CHURCH with a 10 am Rosary.  Interment will take place in the parish cemetery.  Memorials to the Wisconsin Parkinson’s Association, 945 N. 12th Street, Suite 4602, Milwaukee, WI 53233 or Holy Rosary Parish 315 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia, WI 53021 are appreciated.

In keeping with Angela’s generous spirit, she became an organ donator so others may benefit.  Her family would like to share warm wishes and special thanks to her caregivers Ann, Christine, Denise, Laura, Pam and Prestana.
