Marie M. Augustin, 89, of N. Webster Street, Port
Washington died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital-Ozaukee
Campus in Mequon, WI.
She was born on July 23, 1921 to Nicholas and Barbara Oberst Buchholz in Grafton. While employed at Bolens Products in Port Washington, she met Norbert Augustin of Port Washington and married him May 17, 1947 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Grafton. They lived on West Main Street in Port Washington raising their family. She was a proud full-time mom and homemaker. They later moved to North Webster Street with the doors always open to family and friends.
She enjoyed sewing quilts for all her children and crocheted afghans for all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She proudly made and kept scrapbooks for all. She and her husband enjoyed worldly travels, and were especially fond of Belgium and Germany when their son Frank lived there and the Island of Mallorca and England to visit their daughter Donna and her family. She collected plates and spoons from their many travels.
She was a life member of the Ozaukee Memorial Auxiliary VFW Post 5373, St. Mary’s Church and St. Mary’s Christian Women and the Catholic Knights Society.
She is survived by her husband Norbert, her children Gerry (Donna Rae) Augustin of Enid, Oklahoma, Judy (Neil) Thill of Fredonia, Bob (Sandy) Augustin of Marshfield, Frank (Lisa) Augustin of Krakow, Wisconsin, Rita Thompson of Sierra Vista, Arizona, Laurie Augustin of Port Washington and Donna (Bill) Miller of Derbyshire, England; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, her brother Frank (Clarice) Buchholz of Grafton, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by 2 sisters, 4 brothers and one great-grandchild.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 6 pm Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Port Washington. The Reverend Thomas Lijewski will be the celebrant. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington. Visitation will be from 3-5:30 pm Wednesday. AT THE FUNERAL HOME with a 3 pm Rosary and a 5:15 pm vigil with the Ozaukee Memorial Auxiliary VFW Post 5373. Memorials to St. Mary Church are appreciated.
