Asherman, Charles D.

Charles D. Asherman, 81, of Lakeview Avenue died Sunday, July 17, 2005 at Cedar Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Cedarburg.

He was born October 27, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Albert A. and Julia H. Christener Asherman. After high school he attended the University of Illinois – Champagne-Urbana. He served in 87th Calvary of the Army in the Battle Of The Bulge and received a bronze star. When he returned he married Martha “Marty” Smith of Evanston, Illinois on June 27, 1954 in Chicago.

Charlie worked as a metalurgial engineer for various foundries including, American Steel Foundries in Illinois, Calumet Hecla Copper Foundry in Calumet, Michigan and started working for Modern Equipment in Port Washington in 1996. For the last 15 years he was the supervisor of security guards at Simplicity in Port Washington. He enjoyed computers and computer language and took courses through MATC. Charlie was a member of the VFW 7588, Port Washington. He will be remembered for his old pickup truck and leisurely bike rides around the northside.

He is survived by is wife Marty of Port Washington, four children, Sharon (James) Clifford of Palatine, Illinois, Richard (Mary) Linton of Eden, Wisconsin, Juli Stone of Rancho Cordova, California and Douglas (Lisa) Asherman of Oakland, California; 4 grandchildren Kirk, Heather, Monica and Sara; and great grandchildren Jacob and Hope. Further survived by sister Mabel (Ralph) Zimmerman of Carmel, Indiana, brother-in-law William Provis of Port Washington, other relatives and friends. Preceded in death by an infant son Christopher Asherman, a brother Everett Asherman and sister-in-law Dorothy Provis.

The Reverend Jeffery Suddendorf will officiate funeral services 1 pm Friday, July 22, 2005 at First Congregational Church, Port Washington. Visitation from 11 am to 1 pm Friday AT CHURCH. Memorials appreciated..
